Dr. Randeep Guleria, Director of AIIMS Delhi, stated on Tuesday that there is no evidence, either in India or worldwide, that children would be gravely sick in the next wave of COVID-19.
Dr. Guleria stated during a joint news conference on the COVID-19 situation here that it is a myth that further waves of the COVID-19 pandemic will bring serious disease in youngsters. He stated that 60 to 70% of the children who were sick and were admitted to hospitals during the second wave in India had co-morbidities or inadequate immunity, whereas healthy children recovered with moderate sickness without the need for hospitalization.
