It was supposed to be a victorious celebration of North Korea’s martial prowess, but analysts fear a massive military parade to commemorate the army’s creation may have unwittingly spread Covid-19 nationally.
North Korea reported its first coronavirus death Thursday, a day after the hermit dictatorship admitted to Omicron cases, saying tens of thousands of people were isolated when a fever swept the country in late April. On April 25, North Korea held a spectacular military parade in Pyongyang to commemorate the army’s founding anniversary.
