At least seventeen individuals were killed and six wounded late on Tuesday night in a vehicle accident on the Kanpur-Allahabad motorway in Sachendi, Uttar Pradesh District.

They have noted that two of the injured are critical. Ashtbhuja Prasad Singh, Kanpur Outer’s Supreme Superintendent of Police, said the accident happened in the region of Kisan Nagar when the accelerating bus hit a loader that collapsed across the road while the bus also fell and overthrew into a ditch.

Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister, has given a 2 lakh ex-gratia payment to the deceased’s next of kin and has demanded an investigation into the event.
