Uttarakhand Glacier Burst: 203 people missing in disaster, out of which 11 bodies recovered – Chief Minister

A major accident occurred in Chamoli, Uttarakhand due to the breaking of the glacier on Sunday. During the relief and rescue operations so far, Chamoli District Police has confirmed that 14 bodies have been found. It is being told that more than 125 people are still missing. Rescue operations continued at night as well. Damage assessment continues. Rescue work has started once again from four in the morning. Debris is being removed from near the tunnels. It is believed that many people are trapped in them. The state and central government have announced compensation for the families of the people who lost their lives in the accident. The state government will provide four and the central government will contribute Rs 2 lakh. Teams of Army, Air Force, NDRF, ITBP and SDRF are working with the local administration for relief and rescue operations. Global leaders have expressed deep grief over the incident. At the same time, the United Nations has offered to help when needed.
Garhwal MP Tirath Singh Rawat, District In-Charge Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, MLA Mahendra Prasad Bhatt, MLA Surendra Singh Negi also took stock of the disaster affected area in Tapovan and Rani. During this time, Garhwal MP and incharge minister met the families of the affected families and assured them of all possible help. Minister in-charge Dhan Singh Rawat said that the district administration, police, ITBP, Army, NDRF, SDRF, BRO all together are engaged in day-to-day relief-rescue operations on war level and every effort should be made to rescue the stranded people.
