In thisAugust 1997, Mamta is addressing the session of the All India Congress Committee in Kolkata. Mamta was then the President of Congress Youth Wing.
Date: May 12, 2011. Venue: Mamta Banerjee’s tiled roof house in Kalighat, Kolkata.
As the results of the 2011 assembly elections were approaching, there was a rising tide of enthusiasm among thousands of Trinamool Congress supporters outside the house. But Mamta Banerjee’s face was very calm.
Despite this, after about 13 years of breaking away from the Congress and forming a separate party, his dream of ousting the leftist was seen to be fulfilled. Also, an old oath of his was also going to be fulfilled.
When it was clear that the TMC was going to come to power with an overwhelming majority, Mamata started planning ahead instead of celebrating. She was then the Union Railway Minister and did not even contest the assembly elections.
After the results, she spent the whole night with her close aides trying to form the government’s outline. Sonali Guha, who is very close to Mamta Banerjee, had told this incident earlier. Now Sonali has gone to BJP, angry due to not getting a ticket
After the election results, Mamata’s response was also very strict. He had said, “This is the victory of Maa, Mati and Manusha. It is a chance to celebrate for the people of Bengal, but at the same time we have to remember those who have sacrificed for this day during the last three decades.” . “
On 20 May 2011, Mamta Banerjee greeted the supporters by shaking hands with the Writers’ Building after taking oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal.
Story of swearing and keeping it for 18 years
After all, what did Mamata swear that was going to be completed that day?
In July 1993, 13 youths were killed by a police bullet during the State Secretariat Writers’ Building campaign as their Youth Congress president.
Mamta also suffered injuries during that campaign. But before that on January 7 of the same year, she sat on a dharna in front of her chamber door to meet the then Chief Minister Jyoti Basu with a deaf and mute rape victim in Nadia district.
Mamta alleged that the culprits are not being arrested due to political connections. She was then Union Minister of State but Basu did not meet her.
When it was time for Basu to arrive, when Mamta did not agree to be in a trance from there despite a lot of respect, she and the woman were dragged down the stairs by the female policemen and taken to the police headquarters Lalbazar. During this, their clothes also got ripped off.
Mamta swore on the same day that she would step in this building again only after becoming the Chief Minister. He kept his oath with full devotion. Finally, on May 20, 2011, after nearly 18 years, he re-stepped into this historic red building as the Chief Minister.
Former Chief Minister Jyoti Basu was so irritated with Mamata’s politics that she had never even publicly named him. Instead, he always addressed Mamata as ‘that woman’.
