A new study revealed that the new coronavirus alpha and beta (SARS-CoV-2) variants functionally have altered owing to the spikes in the protein – which need the requirement for current COVID-19 vaccines to enhance their doses. A research by the Boston Children’s Hospital revealed that the alpha form was altered more quickly whereas the beta variation evades immunological reaction.
Led by Bing Chen, Phd of the Molecular Medicine Department at the Boston Children’s Hospital, the analysis is one of the latest in a series of SRAS-CoV-2 structural investigations.
