The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has asked Chief Justice of India N V Ramana to restart physical hearings in the Supreme Court, claiming that the COVID-19 condition in the capital city has become “nearly normal.” As a precaution, the SCBA proposed that only attorneys be permitted to visit courtrooms, while litigants and media representatives may view the proceedings through online mode.
The association suggested the following procedures for restarting physical hearings: “all courts must sit at 10:30 a.m., as has been the norm of this court. On Miscellaneous days, i.e., Monday and Friday, there should be six 45-minute sessions, with 10 cases assigned to each slot, so that about 60 cases may be heard.”
