US Intelligence on origin of Coronavirus: “Divided between two theories”

The intelligence department of the US accepted that it had two theories regarding the origin of COVID-19, the first being human contact with infected animals and the second being a possible laboratory mishap.

“The US Intelligence Community does not know exactly where, when, or how the COVID-19 virus was transmitted initially but has coalesced around two likely scenarios,” the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) said. They also believe that there is not “sufficient information to assess one to be more likely than the other.”

President Biden had earlier ordered intelligence agencies to intensify their search for the origin of the virus and to report back to him in 90 days.

“As part of that report, I have asked for areas of further inquiry that may be required, including specific questions for China,” Biden’s statement said.
