Captain Amarinder Singh, the ousted Punjab chief minister, and the Congress got into a verbal spat on Friday. Harish Rawat, a senior Congress politician, and Punjab in-charge launched the first salvo. Rawat questioned Amarinder’s secular credentials, citing his proximity to Amit Shah, prompting a sharp reaction from the former Punjab chief minister, who stated even his opponents don’t doubt his sincerity in this area.
Denying Amarinder’s charge of being humiliated by the Congress, Rawat said “It appears from Captain’s recent statements that he is under some sort of pressure. He should rethink, and not help BJP directly or indirectly.”
