Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, President of the United Arab Emirates, has died

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, died on Friday, according to local media citing the Ministry of Presidential Affairs. An Emirates News Agency-WAM, the statement read: “The Ministry of Presidential Affairs condoles the people of the UAE, the Arab and Islamic nation, and the world over the demise of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the UAE,”

Sheikh Khalifa has been the President of the United Arab Emirates and the ruler of Abu Dhabi since November 3, 2004. According to the Khaleej Times, the Ministry of Presidential Affairs has declared 40 days of mourning for the death of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi.
