The Delhi Police began removing barricades and concertina wires from the anti-farm laws protest site in Ghazipur, on the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border, on Friday.
Last year, multiple levels of iron and cement barricades, as well as at least five layers of concertina wires, were erected, and they were reinforced after the violence on January 26 this year, when farmers protested three problematic farm laws.
On Friday, Deputy Commissioner of Police (east) Priyanka Kashyap said: “The process of removing barricades on NH-9 has been started. The temporarily barricading is being removed to ease out vehicular movement. However, the National Highway 24 was already opened for the traffic.”
