On Wednesday, Mumbai reported more than 624 new Covid-19 cases, surpassing the 600-case threshold set 84 days ago on July 14 when 619 infections were reported in the city. This comes a day after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) claimed an increase in cases due to forthcoming festivals and seasonal migration could not be ruled out totally.
Mumbai also reported seven deaths, bringing the overall number of Covid-related deaths in the city to 16,136, out of a total of 746,703 illnesses. The recovery rate in the city is a robust 96 percent, with a fatality rate of 2.16 percent. On Wednesday, the city recorded a 1.50 percent positive rate for 5,451 current cases.
