Rahul Gandhi, the former Congress president, lashed out at the central government on Tuesday over the National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) plan, stating that the BJP-led government is selling all assets generated in the last 70 years to the Prime Minister’s “industrialist buddies.”
“The Narendra Modi-led administration is in the process of selling India’s greatest treasures, which were constructed with public funds over 70 years by previous governments,” Gandhi stated during a press conference with senior Congress politician P Chidambaram.
The NMP, costing Rs 6 lakh crore, was presented on Monday by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and featured unlocking value by incorporating private enterprises across infrastructure sectors, from passenger trains and railway stations to airports, roads, and stadiums.
