During Durga Puja celebrations in Chandpur’s Hajiganj Upazila, sectarian violence claimed the lives of three persons and injured 60 others, including journalists, police officers, and ordinary citizens. The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, while Hindu worshipers were celebrating Durga Puja, Bangladesh’s most important religious festival, according to the Dhaka Tribune.

After a video went viral on social media, religious radicals began flocking to the Mandap neighborhood about 9 a.m. According to police, members of law enforcement agencies arrived at the mandap where Hindu worshippers were celebrating Durga Puja in a relatively short period.
