India is placed 101 out of 116 countries in the Global Hunger Index, which was released on Thursday. India is one of the 31 countries where severe hunger has been identified. In the Global Hunger Index (GHI) released last year, India was rated 94th out of 107 countries.
India was also lagging behind the majority of its neighbors. Pakistan was ranked 92nd, Nepal was ranked 76th, and Bangladesh was likewise ranked 76th. According to current forecasts based on the Global Hunger Index (GHI), the globe as a whole — and 47 countries in particular — will not be able to reach even low levels of hunger by 2030.
