The long-running feud between Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav appeared to bring the assembly election to a close. Shivpal, who created his own party, Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia), tried to persuade his nephew and SP president to give him several seats, but Akhilesh only gave him one.
