Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, who is on the verge of allying with the BJP and breakaway Akali groups, slammed the Congress, his party of more than 40 years, today. He claimed that the Congress is not a secular party, citing its alliance with the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra and the induction of multiple leaders from the BJP and its mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, including current state Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu.
The majority of his rage was directed at Harish Rawat, the Congress in-charge of Punjab, who called Mr. Singh’s announcement on Tuesday shocking and claimed that he had “killed the secular Amarinder within him.”
