During the Durga Puja celebrations in Bangladesh last week, at least six people were killed and hundreds were injured in communal violence and mayhem. Several incidences of unidentified Muslim individuals attacking minority populations’ houses of worship have been recorded across the country.

According to PTI, the violence began with an alleged blasphemy incident at a Durga Puja pavilion in Cumilla, near Chandpur and roughly 100 kilometers from Dhaka, prompting the deployment of paramilitary forces in more than half of the administrative districts.
