The National Capital records 3,009 fresh COVID-19 cases whereas 252 deaths from the disease, in the last 24 hours. With this, the positivity rate falls to less than 4.76 per cent. It is the lowest recorded positivity rate since April 4.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared that if the positivity rate falls below 5 per cent, then it is considered as the safe zone. This would now create a pressure on the Delhi government to lift the lockdown. The Medical experts say that lockdown is the main factor for the decline in cases.
The daily cases recorded in the last 24 hours is also the lowest since April 1. The active cases in Delhi has now reached below 36,000. The recovery rate in the city is 95.85 per cent and the death rate is 1.62 per cent. Delhi has faced the worst since the spread of the second wave. The state suffered a lack of oxygen, hospital beds, druga and also vaccines.
