Sri Lanka’s new Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe, has expressed his desire for deeper ties with India during his tenure and has hailed India for its economic support as the country faces its worst economic crisis since independence.
On Thursday, Ranil Wickremesinghe, 73, was sworn in as Sri Lanka’s 26th Prime Minister, to stabilize the country’s debt-ridden economy and put an end to political turbulence. Prime Minister Wickremesinghe expressed his desire for a closer partnership with India and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
