The Tamil Nadu government stated on Friday that the COVID-19 lockdown will be extended for two weeks, until August 23, with further barriers in place. The prior government-announced lockdown would be enforced until 6 a.m. on August 9. Most significantly, the administration has said that education for grades 9 through 12 would resume on September 1. Karnataka issued a similar announcement on July 6th, stating that schools will resume for grades 10th and up.
On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, religious institutions will be shut. The administration intends to resume schools for grades 9 through 12 on September 1. The courses will operate with 50% of the pupils adhering to strict COVID-19 standards. Nursing, Medical, and allied colleges will begin on August 16 with different Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
