Sonia Gandhi has the record of being the Congress President for the longest time.  In the last years of the 20th century, he is credited with reviving the Congress, which seems to be falling into the pit of collapse, and putting him in power in the country for 10 consecutive years.  Today is the birthday of Sonia Gandhi, the successful daughter-in-law of Indian politics.  He has completed the journey of 73 years of his life at a time when his party is standing at its weakest point.  The Congress’ base is steadily shrinking and the organization seems scattered.  In such a situation, Sonia Gandhi’s search for the new heir of the Congress along with the ‘Gandhi family’ is not being completed.
Successful political journey of Sonia Gandhi Sonia has been commanding the Congress President for almost two decades.  In her first term as Congress president, Sonia held the reins of the party for 19 years.  Sonia Gandhi has been working as interim president for a year after Rahul Gandhi quit.  In the first innings, where Sonia gave a charismatic leadership to the party, in the second innings she appeared more in the role of Knight Watchman.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee-LK Advani was in a storm in the politics of the country when Sonia took office 22 years ago.  The politics of the Third Front was also in its political turmoil.  Congress seemed helpless in front of satraps.  In such a situation, Sonia Gandhi took the leadership, gave the Congress a new life and brought it back to the top of politics.
Sonia was the party’s president from 1998 to 2017.  In 2004, he led the party’s election campaign.  It was his charisma that Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s six-year achievements and the slogan of Shining India, Feel Good, were clouded.  Congress made a comeback and formed a government at the Center.  Sonia then refused to become the Prime Minister herself and decided to crown Manmohan Singh on this post, which is still considered by many politically knowledgeable political masterstrokes.
