The ministry of finance has called Infosys MD and CEO Salil Parekh to explain to finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman why the Income Tax portal’s faults have not been rectified even though it has been up and running for over two months.

Given that the portal has been unavailable since August 21, the Infosys senior executive will be questioned about why several issues continue to obstruct its proper operation.

From the day of its launch on June 7, the new income tax e-filing platform www.incometax.gov.in had a rocky start due to technical issues. The government paid Infosys Rs. 164.5 crores for creating the portal between January 2019 and June 2021.
