On a recent visit to New Delhi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held discussions with a high-level Russian delegation led by Denis Manturov, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. The meeting focused on a variety of topics of mutual interest, including investment, banking, and finance, highlighting the growing economic ties between India and Russia.

Both countries expressed optimism about the upcoming 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit, set to take place on December 5, 2025. According to a statement from the Finance Ministry, both sides are hopeful for significant outcomes from the event.
During the discussions, Manturov extended his strong support for India’s upcoming chairmanship of BRICS, underscoring the importance of further cooperation between the two nations.
Manturov’s visit is part of a broader diplomatic engagement, as he is accompanying Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is in India for a two-day official trip, starting Thursday. The visit marks Putin’s first trip to India in four years.
The Russian delegation also includes several senior officials, such as Reshetnikov Maxim, Minister of Economic Development; Siluanov Anton, Minister of Finance; and Nabiullina Elvira, Chairman of the Central Bank of Russia, among others.
