On Monday, October 18, 2021, many train routes were disrupted as protesters squatted on railway rails to show solidarity for the Samyukt Kisan Morcha’s six-hour ‘rail roko Andolan.’ Four portions of the Ferozepur division (Punjab) were blocked by protesters, according to a railway official, including the Ferozepur-Fazilka section in Ferozepur city and the Ferozepur-Ludhiana section at Ajitwal in Moga.
According to reports, trains on the Bahraich-Mailani, Bahraich-Nanpara, Gorakhpur-Mailani, and Lucknow-Mailani routes in Uttar Pradesh were also affected.
The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella organization of farmer unions leading the agitation against the Centre’s three agri legislation, had previously stated in a statement that “protests will be escalated until justice is secured” in the Lakhimpur Kheri case.
