PM Modi will address the 7th Yoga Day programme at around 6:30am on Monday. “Tomorrow, 21st June, we will mark the 7th Yoga Day. The theme this year is ‘Yoga For Wellness’, which focusses on practising Yoga for physical and mental well-being. At around 6:30 AM tomorrow, will be addressing the Yoga Day programme,” PM Modi tweeted.
In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the lead event of the International Yoga Day, 2021 will be a televised programme and is scheduled to start at 6.30am on all Doordarshan channels.
The main theme of IDY 2021 is “Yoga for Wellness”, which is aligned to the current pre-occupations.
The event will also include an address by minister of state for Ayush Kiren Rijiju and a live yoga demonstration by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga.
Earlier, the Central government said that the event will be observed through maximum use of digital, virtual and electronic platforms rather than by organising events that require congregation of people.
All stake-holders are invited to take up messaging to the public by highlighting the importance and contribution of IDY to public health, and encouraging the people to observe IDY 2021 by doing the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) at home with their families, on June 21, 2021,” the government said in a note on Saturday
An “IDY Handbook” has been developed by ministry of AYUSH keeping in mind the current pandemic situation – lending focus predominantly on mobilization activities in the online/virtual mode.
