The Centre justified its choice to retain a large gap between the two doses of Covishield vaccination despite fresh research indicating that the second injection should be administered sooner for greater protection against the common Delta strain.
Meanwhile, by Wednesday evening at 7 p.m., 265,317,472 vaccination doses had been administered throughout India. This number comprises 10,087,937 healthcare professionals who received their first dosage and 7,017,515 who received their second dosage. A total of 16,955,109 frontline employees have received their first dosage, with an additional 8,936,126 receiving their second dosage.
