The long-delayed project of four-laning the Mumbai-Goa highway has officially been given a deadline. The project would be finished by May 2023, as per state public works minister Ashok Chavan. The Mumbai-Goa highway, widely called NH-66, has been under construction for even more than a decade.
Pravin Darekar, the opposition leader in the state legislature, highlighted the subject of the construction through a drawing attention statement, asking for an update on its progress and a timeline for completion. The 471-kilometer expansion project began in 2011 and encompasses three districts: Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg. Workers have been switched since then in order to expedite the process.
