As counting continues in Manipur, preliminary results show that the BJP is dominating in 29 assembly constituencies, while the Congress is ahead in ten. The National People’s Party (NPP) holds ten seats, while the JDU holds three. In the Heingang constituency, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh is presently ahead by 2,598 votes. In Thoubal, erstwhile CM and Congress leader Okram Ibobi Singh has a 1225-vote edge.

All attention is on the outcome of Manipur’s Assembly elections, where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is expected to maintain power, although Congress also hopes to win.
