United States-based pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson has asked to India’s Central Drug Standard Control Organization for urgent authorization of their single-shot vaccine. Before, the firm had requested a trial, but because the Center no longer offers trials for reputable and acknowledged vaccines, it urged the vaccine producer to apply immediately for approval rather than wait for a trial.
Following the withdrawal of its prior application, J&J announced on Friday that it had submitted its request for emergency use clearance on August 5. This is the second foreign-made vaccine to be authorized in India after Moderna if J&J’s product is approved there.
