OIC comments to Jammu and Kashmir have been criticized by India, which says the body has no jurisdiction over the region, which is an important part of the nation. “Yet another inappropriate reference to Jammu and Kashmir by the General Secretariat of the OIC is unequivocally rejected. Jammu & Kashmir is a part of India, and the OIC has no jurisdiction over it”, the Ministry of External Affairs said.
As also, India warned the OIC General Secretariat not to use its position to promote remarks about the domestic affairs of its member countries.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) had asked for the government to rescind its August 2019 pronouncements on Jammu and Kashmir.
