A new immunization program for India will begin today (21 June), in which free COVID-19 vaccinations for adults in all states will be provided by the Central government (Monday, 21 June). Earlier in June, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Center would take over states that are expected to carry out around 25% of their vaccination activities and would continue their work to vaccinate the people, healthcare, and front-line personnel, over 45 years of age.

75 percent of pharmaceutical firms will be bought and distributed to the  States and territories of the Union at no cost by the Central Government to vaccinate everyone older than 18 years. The Center also reduces rates in private hospitals for the distribution of 3 approved COVID-19 vaccinations.
