The Indian Army’s Aselection board has approved the promotion of five women officers to colonel (time scale) level after they had served for 26 years, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Defence on August 23.

Lieutenant Colonel Sangeeta Sardana of the Corps of Signals, Lieutenant Colonel Sonia Anand and Lieutenant Colonel Navneet Duggal of the Corps of EME, and Lieutenant Colonel Reenu Khanna and Lieutenant Colonel Ritcha Sagar of the Corps of Engineers have all been selected for the colonel time scale rank.

This is the first time women officers serving in the Corps of Signals, Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME), and Corps of Engineers have been promoted to the rank of colonel, according to a statement released by the Defence Ministry.
