New Delhi | Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi stated that the Indian Army is carefully monitoring the conflict in Ukraine as it serves as a living laboratory reflecting conditions similar to those along India’s borders.

Speaking at the Delhi Defence Dialogue 2025, he explained that the future of warfare is defined by competition and continuous challenges rather than prolonged peace. According to him, the world is witnessing the decline of extended peace periods and the rise of multifaceted conflicts driven by rapid technological advancements.

General Dwivedi pointed out that technology has become a central element in modern warfare and can be applied across various operational areas. He mentioned that more than fifty conflicts are currently active around the world involving over one hundred nations, highlighting the growing instability across regions.

The Army Chief further elaborated that the Ukraine battlefield offers valuable lessons for India’s defense strategy. He described how drones are targeting armored vehicles, electronic warfare systems are disrupting communications, and precision strikes are capable of reaching well beyond one hundred kilometers. He also noted that information campaigns have the power to shape outcomes before any physical confrontation begins.
