West Bengal has extended restrictions on services and movement till June 15. The current restrictions were announced on May 15 and were to end on June 1.
No events and functions will be allowed during this period. Any from of congregation between 9 pm to 5 am is forbidden.
All offices and educational institutions remain shut, as well as public transport, including the Metro.
Online services and home deliveries are allowed to continue.
Grocery stores and shops selling essentials will stay open between 7 and 10 am. Shops selling sweets, will remain open from 10 am to 5 pm.
Banks will remain open from 10 am to 2 pm.
Weddings are allowed to have a maximum of 50 guests.
Mamta Banerjee, West Bengal CM, said, “Please don’t call this a lockdown. COVID numbers have come down and for the sake of the economy there will be no total lockdown. The pandemic situation in the state has eased a little because of existing restrictions.”
