The majority of Mumbai’s main malls closed on Tuesday, just two days after they opened. Many stated they followed BMC chief IS Chahal’s orders, which allowed mall employees to enter even if they only had one vaccine dosage.
However, with the state government’s August 16 announcement that all mall employees, including managers and housekeeping staff, must have completed 14 days after receiving both doses, malls have been forced to reopen.
The commissioner of Mumbai has stated that the guidelines relevant to the city will be modified to allow personnel working in malls to return to work with at least one vaccination, according to Kumar Rajagopalan, CEO, Retailers Association of India (RAI).
