The Congress’ election campaign in Uttar Pradesh would be led by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the party’s newly-appointed campaign committee leader P L Punia stated on Sunday, claiming that the AICC general secretary is currently the most popular political person in the state.
Mr. Punia, who was named on Friday as the head of the Congress’s key 20-member election campaign committee for the upcoming UP elections, noted that the party has rarely announced a chief ministerial face and that the fact that it hasn’t done so yet won’t hurt the party’s chances because it already has Priyanka Gandhi to lead the charge against the BJP.
