All existing coronavirus disease (Covid-19)-related protocols in India were extended by the Centre on Saturday until September 30. The Union ministry of home affairs (MHA) directed the concerned state governments to take proactive containment measures ahead of the country’s upcoming festival season, noting that the overall pandemic situation in India now appears to be “largely stable, except for the localized spread of the virus in a few states.”

Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla issued an official order in this regard, which was communicated to the chief secretaries of all states. The government stated in it that the earlier order for the application of Covid-19 procedures, which was issued on June 29, will now be implemented until September 30. The Centre is concerned that the total number of active cases and the case positivity rate in various areas across the country are still high.
