Farmers stopped national and state highways on Saturday after police in Haryana’s Karnal lathi-charged demonstrators. Farmers were protesting against a meeting called by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to discuss the impending municipal elections.

Following police action that resulted in the injuries of numerous farmers, the farmers gathered in huge numbers on several toll plazas throughout the state. Surajpur Toll Plaza has been blocked by protesting farmers, according to the Panchkula Commissionerate. The state police were heavily chastised for their actions against the farmers, and many roads were blocked in protest at various locations.
