On Monday, Attorney General KK Venugopal informed the Supreme Court that the central government had returned 22,500 students from Ukraine, including other nationalities, and that pleas demanding safety and rescue of Indians stuck in the war-torn country have been dismissed. He also told the Supreme Court that the administration is checking into their ongoing education, which was put on hold owing to the emergency.

The court was hearing a petition submitted by lawyer Vishal Tiwari, who requested immediate and efficient humanitarian procedures and preparations for the escape of trapped Indian people in Ukraine, especially students and families.
