Three people arrested in Kanpur for abusing a guy and forcing him to chant “Jai Shri Ram” were released on bail by a local court on Friday, according to police.
Videos of the assault went viral on social media, with Afsar Ahmad’s five-year-old daughter pleading with the guys to let her father go.
Some guys wearing saffron scarves are seen attacking Ahmad, an e-rickshaw driver, and accusing him of chanting anti-national sentiments in one of the films. While his daughter tries to rescue him, Ahmad is seen continuously imploring that he did not raise any such slogan. Ahmad and his daughter had been apprehended by police and taken to a police station.
