Al-Qaida will very certainly return: UK defence minister on Afghanistan Conflict

Afghanistan is on the verge of civil war, and al-Qaida will almost certainly return as the region’s security situation worsens, UK defense secretary Ben Wallace said on Friday.
As the Taliban onslaught gains speed, the Cabinet member spoke to UK media outlets on the government’s plan to send in around 600 additional troops to support the safe exit of remaining UK forces in Afghanistan.
The news comes as the UK Ministry of Defence revealed that the British Embassy in Kabul has been reduced to core personnel focused on delivering consular and visa services to those seeking the UK’s resettlement plan.
The ministry will assist in relocating interpreters and other Afghan personnel who risked their lives working alongside UK soldiers in Afghanistan to the UK as quickly as feasible.
