As per a local newspaper, the Taliban have declared they will construct “a robust and effective administration” for women under Sharia law, as they have kept girls out of school and forced women employees in the Kabul municipal government to “stay home.”
Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid stated that the administration will be established by Islamic principles and that it will not be given the designation of a ministry or sub-division.
The previous government’s women’s ministry did nothing to improve the lives of Afghan women. Despite the presence of the ministry, Mujahid added, women in rural Afghanistan were not provided their basic rights.
