Danish Siddiqui, the Indian photojournalist who was slain on the job in Afghanistan on Thursday, will be put to rest at the Jamia Millia Islamia cemetery. On Sunday, the institution released a statement announcing that the Vice-Chancellor has approved Siddiqui’s family’s plea to bury his remains in the university’s cemetery.
Siddiqui attended the AJK Mass Communication Research Centre (MCRC) between 2005 and 2007. Siddiqui’s father, Akhtar Siddiqui, was the Dean of the Faculty of Education at the time.
On Thursday, Siddiqui, a Pulitzer Prize recipient, was assassinated in Kandahar, Afghanistan’s southernmost region. He was integrated with Afghan special forces on a journalistic project.
