A top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander was killed in an overnight encounter in south Kashmir’s Shopian district. Police reports suggest that the commander deserted the ranks of the Jammu and Kashmir Police about four years ago. The report further said that two other lock terrorists were also killed in Srinagar two days ago in a similar operation.
Kashmir police chief (IGP) Vijay Kumar informed the media that Ishfaq Dar alias Abu Akram was one of the tops LeT terrorists active in the region since 2017 and he was neutralised in the joint operation being carried out by the police, army and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
An official report suggests that the joint operation was launched at Check Sadiq Khan area of Shopian after the security forces got a tipoff about the presence of terrorists there. Soon after it turned into an encounter and two terrorists were killed. A senior officer also said that “The operation is still in progress,”
Earlier, two terrorists were suspected to be involved n the killings of policemen and civilians in Srinagar were neutralised by security forces at Alamdar Colony in the Danmar area of Srinagar. The police further informed that 81 terrorists have been killed in Kashmir since January this year.
