Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav’s son Prateek Yadav on Monday alleged that his wife Aparna Bisht Yadav, a Bharatiya Janata Party leader, had destroyed his family relationships and said he would move for divorce at the earliest.
Aparna Yadav is currently serving as the vice chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Commission for Women.
In a detailed post shared on his verified Instagram account, Prateek Yadav referred to Aparna Yadav as a family destroyer and accused her of being self focused and driven solely by the pursuit of popularity and influence. He claimed that her actions had caused severe emotional distress and adversely affected his mental health.
Prateek Yadav wrote that he intended to divorce her as soon as possible, alleging that she had shown no concern for his condition and was only interested in her own ambitions. He further said he had never encountered such behaviour and described his marriage as an unfortunate experience.
Efforts by PTI to contact Aparna Yadav for her response were unsuccessful. People close to her also declined to comment on the allegations made by Prateek Yadav.
Prateek Yadav is the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav’s second wife Sadhna Yadav. His stepbrother Akhilesh Yadav, a former chief minister, currently leads the Samajwadi Party, which is the principal opposition party in Uttar Pradesh.
Aparna Yadav had contested the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections from the Lucknow Cantonment seat on a Samajwadi Party ticket but lost to Congress leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi. She later joined the BJP in March 2022 and actively campaigned for the party. In September 2024, she was appointed vice chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Commission for Women.
So far, neither the Samajwadi Party nor the Bharatiya Janata Party has issued any official statement on the matter.
