As the global aviation industry prepares for a post-Covid recovery, a new study from aviation insurer Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) outlines some of the specific problems airlines and airports face in resuming operations, ranging from “rusty” pilots to bug infestations.
The research also outlines many ways in which Covid-19 is changing the industry, including long-term changes in fleet composition, travel itineraries, and passenger demand.
According to the most recent International Air Transport Association (IATA) data issued in June, airlines in Asia Pacific performed the lowest in the world. For the ninth month in a row, the area had the greatest traffic decrease, with capacity falling by 86.3 percent.
