The Geekbench site has removed the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro smartphones, which are powered by the top-tier Snapdragon 888 CPU, for allegedly manipulating test results. According to an investigation, the phones only use the chipset to its full capability while operating benchmarking apps and restrict the processor’s performance when using mobile apps such as Chrome, Instagram, and others.
The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro are claimed to be restricting the performance of the Snapdragon 888 processor in all Microsoft and Google programs, as well as certain other popular apps such as Snapchat and Instagram. While OnePlus has yet to comment on the subject, the only reason for this decision is to enhance the devices’ battery life and thermal efficiency.
