Prime Minister Narendra Modi today urged BIMSTEC countries to work together more closely, saying that the moment has come to transform the Bay of Bengal into a hub of interconnectivity, development, and stability. PM Modi stated the outcomes of this historic meeting would record a magnificent episode in BIMSTEC’s heritage in his opening comments at the fifth BIMSTEC Summit. He stated that India will contribute $1 million to the BIMSTEC secretariat’s operating budget.
“Recent events in Europe have cast doubt on the international order’s stability,” Prime Minister Modi stated. “In this scenario, it is critical to strengthen BIMSTEC regional cooperation,” he said, noting that “regional security is critical now.”
