.The covid patients in a village of Uttar Pradesh are unable to receive treatments in the hospitals. They lie down under the tree on cots for their treatment. There are cows grazing in the field along with empty syringes and medicine packets lying on the ground. These thing are making it extremely unhygienic for the patients.
The condition can be seen in the village named Mewla Gopalgarh which is at a 90 km drive from Delhi. There is no doctor or any health facility present. There is a government hospital nearby but it does not have access to any bed and the villagers cannot afford the high prices of private hospitals. Hence, villagers took an alternative and have set up an open clinic under the trees. Here they give out glucose and other medications and treatments required by the patients with COVID-19 symptoms.
Some of the villagers believe that lying under the neem tree is beneficial and has medicinal properties and provides oxygen to the patients. There is no scientific proof of the same.
Sanjay Singh whose father died a few days ago said,”When people become breathless, they have to go under trees to raise their oxygen levels. People are dying are there is nobody to look after us”.
